Long before Dolly Parton became one of the most recognizable names in country music, she was simply one of\u00a012 children growing up in the mountains of East Tennessee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Born to Robert Lee Parton Sr. and Avie Lee Owens, Dolly shared her childhood with\u00a0six brothers and five sisters<\/strong>: Willadeene, David, Coy \u201cDenver,\u201d Robert \u201cBobby\u201d Jr., Stella, Cassie, Randy, Larry, Floyd, Freida and Rachel.<\/p>\n

Money was scarce, and the Parton children grew up in a crowded home near the Smoky Mountains. But music was everywhere. Several of Dolly\u2019s siblings would eventually sing, write songs or perform themselves.<\/p>\n

The Parton Sisters<\/h3>\n

Willadeene Parton<\/strong>, the oldest sibling, largely stayed away from the entertainment spotlight and became an author, writing about the family\u2019s Smoky Mountain memories.<\/p>\n

Stella Parton<\/strong>\u00a0followed Dolly into country music and built a recording career of her own.<\/p>\n

Cassie Parton<\/strong>\u00a0also sang, including performing with members of the family, while\u00a0Freida Parton<\/strong>, Dolly\u2019s younger sister, pursued music before later becoming involved in ministry.<\/p>\n

Rachel Parton George<\/strong>, the youngest sibling and Freida\u2019s twin, became both a singer and actress. Television fans may remember her from the sitcom\u00a09 to 5<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Parton Brothers<\/h3>\n

Not all of Dolly\u2019s brothers wanted fame.<\/p>\n

Robert \u201cBobby\u201d Parton Jr.<\/strong>\u00a0largely maintained a private life, as did older brothers\u00a0David<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Coy \u201cDenver\u201d Parton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Others shared Dolly\u2019s musical gifts.\u00a0Randy Parton<\/strong>\u00a0became a singer and musician and performed at Dollywood, while\u00a0Floyd Parton<\/strong>\u00a0was a songwriter who collaborated with Dolly.<\/p>\n

The family also experienced painful losses. Dolly\u2019s baby brother\u00a0Larry<\/strong>\u00a0died shortly after birth. Floyd died in 2018, Randy in 2021, David in 2024 and Coy \u201cDenver\u201d Parton in July 2026.<\/p>\n

Following Dolly\u2019s death in August 2026,\u00a0six of her 11 siblings remained living: Willadeene, Bobby, Stella, Cassie, Freida and Rachel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For all the fame Dolly eventually found, she never seemed to forget where her story began.<\/p>\n

Before the rhinestones, hit records and Hollywood movies, there was a crowded Tennessee home filled with brothers, sisters, stories and music.<\/p>\n
