Gal Gadot<\/a>\u00a0insists DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran told her they would develop \u201cWonder Woman<\/a>\u00a03\u2033 with her returning in the title role after they took over the company and rebooted Zack Snyder\u2019s DC Universe. When asked on the latest \u201cHappy Sad Confused\u201d podcast if Gunn and Safran ever told her they would be going in a different direction, Gadot responded: \u201cThey told me the opposite! They told me, \u2018We\u2019re going to do develop it with you. The third [movie]\u2026\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Back in 2023, Gadot claimed in interviews with\u00a0ComicBook.com<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Flaunt magazine<\/a>\u00a0that Gunn and Safran were interested in developing \u201cWonder Woman 3.\u201d She told the later publication that she even met with the new heads of DC Studios and \u201cwhat they told me, and I\u2019m quoting: \u2018You\u2019re in the best hands. We\u2019re going to develop \u201cWonder Woman 3\u2033 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman\u2014 you\u2019ve got nothing to worry about.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Sources close to the situation\u00a0exclusively told\u00a0<\/a>Variety<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>at the time that \u201cWonder Woman 3\u201d was not in development at DC Studios and that nothing was ever promised to Gadot regarding another sequel, nor was there any definitive discussion of Gadot\u2019s Wonder Woman continuing with the new DC Universe.<\/p>\n \n <\/p>\n Gadot originated the role of Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder\u2019s DC Universe, debuting in \u201cBatman v\u00a0Superman<\/a>: Dawn of Justice\u201d before leading her own two standalone films: \u201cWonder Woman\u201d and \u201cWonder Woman 1984.\u201d Gadot\u2019s Wonder Woman also appeared in \u201cJustice League\u201d and had cameos in DC films such as \u201cShazam! Fury of the Gods.\u201d Her two standalone \u201cWonder Woman\u201d films were directed by Patty Jenkins. The two were developing \u201cWonder Woman 3\u201d together before Gunn and Safran were named the new heads of DC Studios.<\/p>\n During her interview on the \u201cHappy Sad Confused\u201d podcast, Gadot said she ultimately was not surprised when she got the boot from Wonder Woman because \u201cI saw the way everybody else was handled. The Henry [Cavill] situation was not handled elegantly to say the least. Same with Patty [Jenkins]. It was not handled elegantly. We\u2019re all adults and it\u2019s all good. It\u2019s not even about [James Gunn and Peter Safran]. They are there and they\u2019re there to do what they believe in. It\u2019s all good.\u201d<\/p>\n Henry Cavill<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0return as Superman<\/a>\u00a0was officially announced in October 2024 after he returned as the Man of Steel in the \u201cBlack Adam\u201d post-credits scene. The announcement was only two months before Gunn and Safran\u2019s DC takeover was officially confirmed, and the duo did not have plans to bring Cavill\u2019s Superman back. Instead, they rebooted \u201cSuperman\u201d with David Corenswet.<\/p>\n Jenkins, meanwhile, had been developing a third \u201cWonder Woman\u201d to star Gadot when news broke in December 2022 that their \u201cWonder Woman 3\u201d had fallen apart after Warner Bros. leadership passed on Jenkins\u2019 treatment for the sequel. Jenkins publicly exited the project. The news hit shortly after James Gunn and Peter Safran took the reins of DC Studios, which led to speculation that Jenkins had rebuffed efforts to reshape \u201cWonder Woman 3\u201d to fit into their DC Universe.<\/p>\n \u201cI never walked away,\u201d Jenkins shared in a\u00a0post<\/a>\u00a0on Twitter at the time. \u201cI was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time.
