For Randy Travis fans, hearing that unmistakable baritone on a \u201cnew\u201d country song once seemed almost impossible.<\/p>\n

In July 2013, Travis suffered a devastating stroke that left him with aphasia and severely limited his ability to speak and sing.<\/p>\n

But there was something waiting from long before that terrible day.<\/p>\n

Randy\u2019s voice had been preserved in recordings almost nobody had heard.<\/strong><\/p>\n

His longtime producer, Kyle Lehning, discovered a collection of unreleased recordings stored in a climate-controlled Los Angeles vault. Some dated back decades and had simply been set aside because they didn\u2019t fit the albums Randy was making at the time.<\/p>\n

Now those recordings have finally been opened.<\/p>\n

On September 4, 2026, Travis released\u00a0Same Old Way<\/em><\/strong>, a 12-song album assembled from previously unreleased recordings made across his career. Randy himself participated in selecting the material with Lehning and his wife, Mary.<\/p>\n

And there\u2019s one detail that makes the story even more intriguing.<\/p>\n

When Mary first revealed the existence of the vault in July, she said there were\u00a0many more recordings still inside<\/strong>\u00a0than the ones chosen for this project.<\/p>\n

So while Randy may no longer be able to walk into a studio and sing the way he once did, the voice millions fell in love with wasn\u2019t completely lost.<\/p>\n

Part of it had been waiting quietly in a vault for decades.<\/strong><\/p>\n
