  • It’s Official! Family Matters Season 10 Is Coming in 2026

A Shocking Announcement That Changed Everything

Just when fans thought the story was over, Family Matters pulls off the ultimate TV comeback. After decades of silence, the beloved sitcom is officially set to launch Season 10 in 2026. Yes, you read that right. The Winslow family is coming back, and the internet is already buzzing like Steve Urkel in a science lab.

This isn’t just another reboot rumor floating around social media. This is a full-blown continuation—Season 10—marking one of the boldest revivals in television history.

Why Family Matters Season 10 Matters So Much

Some shows fade away. Others live on through reruns. But Family Matters? It carved its name into pop culture. Announcing a tenth season isn’t just about nostalgia—it’s about legacy. Fans didn’t just watch this show; they grew up with it.

Season 10 represents unfinished conversations, updated family dynamics, and a modern lens on timeless values.

A Brief Look Back at the Original Family Matters Legacy

Originally airing from 1989 to 1998, Family Matters ran for nine successful seasons. What started as a family sitcom quickly evolved into a cultural powerhouse. At its heart, it was about love, discipline, forgiveness, and laughter—served with a heavy dose of slapstick humor.

Season 10 isn’t erasing that legacy. It’s building on it.

Why 2026 Is the Perfect Time for a Season 10 Revival

Timing is everything. Audiences today crave comfort content—stories that feel familiar yet fresh. With the entertainment industry leaning heavily into reboots and legacy sequels, 2026 feels like the sweet spot.

It’s far enough away to generate massive anticipation and close enough to keep fans emotionally invested.

What Season 10 Means for Longtime Fans

For longtime viewers, Season 10 feels like reopening a childhood diary. It’s emotional. It’s personal. And it’s exciting. Fans finally get to see how the Winslow family navigates adulthood, parenthood, and modern challenges.

Think of it like meeting an old friend after years apart—you’re different now, but the bond is still there.

Will Steve Urkel Return in Season 10?

Let’s address the biggest question first. Can Family Matters exist without Steve Urkel? Honestly, no. While official casting confirmations are still rolling out, all signs point to Urkel remaining a central figure—though likely in a more evolved role.

Expect fewer pratfalls and more wisdom, but don’t worry—the charm isn’t going anywhere.

How Season 10 Will Modernize the Winslow Family

Season 10 isn’t just repeating old jokes. It’s expected to explore modern family themes like generational gaps, technology overload, career burnout, and evolving relationships.

The Winslows are older now, and so is the audience. That shared growth is what makes this revival feel authentic instead of forced.

    Balancing Nostalgia With Fresh Storytelling

One of the biggest challenges for any revival is balance. Lean too much into nostalgia, and it feels outdated. Ignore it completely, and fans feel betrayed.

Season 10 aims to walk that tightrope—bringing back iconic humor, callbacks, and emotional beats while telling brand-new stories that resonate today.

Why Family Matters Still Resonates Across Generations

Great storytelling doesn’t expire. The themes Family Matters tackled—family responsibility, moral choices, self-acceptance—are just as relevant now as they were in the 90s.

That’s why younger audiences discovering the show today connect with it just as deeply as those who watched it live decades ago.

What Makes Season 10 Different From Typical Reboots

This isn’t a reboot. It’s a continuation. That distinction matters. Season 10 respects everything that came before it. Instead of rebooting the universe, it extends it.

That approach adds emotional weight and gives fans closure and curiosity at the same time.

Fan Expectations Are Sky-High—and That’s a Good Thing

Let’s be honest: fans expect a lot. They want humor, heart, and authenticity. And that pressure? It’s healthy. It pushes creators to deliver something meaningful instead of something lazy.

Season 10 has the rare opportunity to honor the past while redefining the future.

How Season 10 Could Influence Future Sitcom Revivals

If Family Matters Season 10 succeeds, it could change how networks approach classic sitcoms. Instead of short-lived reboots, we may see more full-season continuations that respect character growth and long-term storytelling.

In other words, this season could set a new industry standard.

Why This Announcement Feels Personal to Fans

This isn’t just TV news. It’s emotional news. Family Matters was often watched with parents, siblings, and grandparents. Season 10 taps into shared memories, making the announcement feel like a family reunion rather than a marketing move.

    That emotional connection is priceless.

What New Viewers Can Expect From Season 10

New to Family Matters? Season 10 is expected to be accessible without requiring deep knowledge of previous seasons. Think of it like joining a conversation already in progress—but everyone’s happy to catch you up.

That inclusivity makes the show future-proof.

Why Season 10 Could Be the Most Meaningful Yet

With age comes perspective. Season 10 has the advantage of hindsight. It can reflect on mistakes, growth, and legacy in ways earlier seasons couldn’t.

This season isn’t about being loud. It’s about being real.

The Cultural Impact of Bringing Family Matters Back

Representation, family values, and positive storytelling matter now more than ever. Season 10 reinforces the idea that strong, loving families belong at the center of mainstream entertainment.

That cultural relevance gives this revival real purpose.

Conclusion: Family Matters Season 10 Is More Than a Comeback

The launch of Family Matters Season 10 in 2026 isn’t just a revival—it’s a celebration. A celebration of storytelling, family, and the power of television to connect generations. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a curious newcomer, this season promises heart, humor, and a reminder of why Family Matters truly matters.

  • Where Are Nanny Fine’s Fabulous Clothes Now? Fran Drescher Explains What Happened to Her Character’s ‘Fits (Exclusive)

    Na02

    NEED TO KNOW

    • Fran Drescher played the fabulously dressed Fran Fine on the CBS sitcom The Nanny from 1993 to 1999
    • Over the course of the show, her character became known for her bold prints and patterns, which are now celebrated by a new generation of celebrities
    • Drescher tells PEOPLE what happened to her character’s wardrobe — and shares whether or not she kept any items for herself

Fran Drescher’s series The Nanny may have gone off the air in 1999, but her character’s fab fashion left an indelible mark on pop culture — and now singers like Sabrina Carpenter and Rosalía are rewearing fits that were made famous on the show.

“Rosalía has been wearing the dress that I wore in the Bette Midler episode, which has a little, like pleated keyboard from the piano dress and is so cute,” Drescher, 68, says of the Moschino number.

“And Sabrina Carpenter, who bought that [leopard lined] dress, which is Bob Mackie, actually let us borrow it for the Fran Drescher retrospective at the Hollywood Museum. And on social media, there are also all these mashups of different shows with me in all the different outfits.”

Did Drescher herself she keep any items?

“I did keep some stuff,” she says. “I kept the winter coat I wore in the skiing episode. It’s Anna Sui and so gorgeous. It was very expensive. I remember we cut corners in other areas so we could afford that coat.”

“I have some over-the-knee suede wedgie boots, some high platform suede zip-up boots. A couple of turtlenecks. But I’m not wearing hot pants or miniskirts anymore! Although now that I’m thinner again I could come close to fitting in them,” she continues.

As for where all the other clothes are now, sadly, Drescher doesn’t totally know.

“Sony didn’t create an archival collection, which they should have, but they didn’t know what they had at the time. They couldn’t see the future. And so, it ended up out there in a million different places.” In some cases, in the hands of Nanny fans.

“There’s a guy in Germany who goes by Nanny Schmatta or something, who keeps buying and collecting the clothes, and he does a traveling show,” she says.

Drescher tells PEOPLE that at the time she filmed the show, some labels were thrilled to lend their looks for Fran Fine to wear. “It was designers Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana, Todd Oldham,” she says. “And we wore them all.”

She notes that the reason her character — a live-in caretaker for the kids of a wealthy Broadway producer — was able to look so stylish on a babysitter’s budget is simple: She shopped at designer deal department store Loehmann’s.

“I was always into fashion, as was Peter [her ex-husband and co-creator of The Nanny.] So Peter and I knew that this character, even though she was from the wrong side of the tracks, she didn’t have money, she didn’t have education, and was going to wear phenomenal clothes. And in Queens, there was a store that no longer exists called Loehmann’s.”

She continues, “Now, the thing about Loehmann’s was they cut out the labels, but they had a lot of designer stuff, if you could recognize what it was. So of course, Fran Fine was able to do that. So that was our rationalization for dressing the way she did because she shopped at Loehmann’s. And we talked about it all the time on the series.”

Fran Fine’s obsession with Loehmann’s, which went out of business in 2018, even made it into the very first episode.

“In the pilot, the father says, ‘Oh, you look beautiful, Gracie.’ And she says, ‘Loehmann’s, 50 percent off.’ And Fran says, ‘She’ll never shop retail again.’”

  • A This Is Us Favorite Is Joining High Potential, and Her Connection to Karadec Has Us Intrigued

Susan Kelechi Watson Daniel Sunjata High Potential 2 shot

Karadec will soon be reunited with a mystery woman from his past in the next new episode of High Potential season 2 on ABC, and while we don’t know who the character is to Karadec just yet, we know which familiar face will be popping up on our screens playing her.

As confirmed by Deadline, This Is Us star Susan Kelechi Watson has been set for a recurring role in High Potential season 2. The talented actress will make her debut on the ABC procedural on Tuesday, Jan. 27 in season 2 episode 11, which has been titled “NPC.”

The episode’s synopsis teases Watson’s character and her reconnection with Karadec: “When a former esports champion is mysteriously murdered, both his gaming rival and a sushi chef are under suspicion. Time spent with Elliot unexpectedly provides Morgan with insights on the case. Karadec reconnects with a woman from his past.”

Susan Kelechi Watson joins High Potential season 2 in recurring role

High Potential’s showrunner Todd Harthan previously teased that season 2 has “some of our biggest and most exciting guest stars” popping up in the second half of the season. Watson definitely fits the bill as an exciting guest star, especially if she’s playing who fans might be expecting her to play. If the mystery woman has a connection to Karadec, she could someone we’ve been waiting to meet.

This Is Us' Star Joins 'High Potential' Season 2 - PopCulture.com

Karadec has mentioned Lucia, his ex-fiancée, in previous episodes and even revealed that she left him because he was too invested in his job. The fact that ABC is being cagey about who Watson is playing and only describes her as a “woman from his past” could mean that it’s possible we’re finally going to be meeting Lucia. It would be an opportune moment to bring her into the fold.

Since the series first made its premiere, viewers have been lightly shipping Karadec and Morgan, but between their work and their complicated personal lives, they have kept things professional. But that hasn’t stopped fans from wanting the characters to get together. Meeting Karadec’s ex would certainly add another layer to his relationship with Morgan and give her further insight into his life.

However, we could be aiming too high with Susan Kelechi Watson’s role being Lucia. She could simply be an old friend of Karadec’s, a former girlfriend, someone he previously worked with, or even an estranged family member. The possibilities are endless for who she could be playing, but what we do know is that she’s somehow very important to Karadec’s past at some point in his life.

Watson previously starred in NBC’s family drama This Is Us for all six seasons. Following the show’s end in 2022, the actress appeared in the Netflix mystery dramedy The Residence and guest starred in the season 2 premiere of ABC’s Will Trent. She’s making the rounds on the network’s Tuesday night lineup. Maybe she’ll pop up in RJ Decker next?

  • Revisiting the Unbelievable Run of ‘Family Matters

    Family matters 1989 1998 v0 60sjgrmxmf291

When modern television audiences reflect on the Golden Age of 1990s American sitcoms, names like Friends, Seinfeld, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Full House instantly dominate the conversation. Yet, quietly operating in the background of Friday night television was a juggernaut that outlasted almost all of them in sheer longevity: Family Matters.

Running from September 1989 to July 1998, the show produced an extraordinary 9 seasons and 215 episodes. For anyone who grew up tuning into ABC’s legendary TGIF lineup (and later CBS), Family Matters felt like a permanent fixture of pop culture. Yet looking back today, many casual viewers are stunned to realize just how long the series actually aired.

How did a modest spin-off about a middle-class African American family in Chicago transform into one of the longest-running live-action sitcoms with a predominantly Black cast in American television history? The answer lies in an accidental comedic genius, a radical shift in tone, and an uncanny ability to capture the hearts of millions.

    1. The Humble Beginnings: A Traditional Family Sitcom
Before high-tech gadgets, time machines, and alter-egos invaded the show, Family Matters was conceived as a grounded, heartwarming domestic comedy.

Created by William Bickley and Michael Warren, the series was actually a spin-off of the hit sitcom Perfect Strangers. It centered around Harriette Winslow (played by Jo Marie Payton), an elevator operator who had been introduced in Perfect Strangers, and her husband Carl Winslow (Reginald VelJohnson), a hard-working, short-tempered, but deeply loving Chicago police officer.

The original premise was straightforward: navigate the relatable, humorous struggles of an extended working-class family living under one roof. The household included:

Carl and Harriette’s children: Eddie, Laura, and Judy.

Carl’s mother, the sharp-tongued Estelle “Mother” Winslow.

Harriette’s sister, Rachel, and her young son, Richie.

In its first few episodes, the show performed decently, but it lacked a distinct spark to set it apart from the sea of late-80s family sitcoms. Network executives knew the show needed an extra jolt of energy to survive past its first season.

    Enter episode 12.

    2. The Steve Urkel Effect: From One-Off Guest to Pop Culture Phenomenon
No conversation about Family Matters—or 90s television as a whole—is complete without discussing Steve Urkel.

Introduced in late 1989, Steve Urkel was originally written as a one-time guest character. He was the annoying, suspender-wearing, high-waisted-pants-toting neighbor boy who had an unrequited crush on Laura Winslow. Young actor Jaleel White was cast in the role, bringing an unbelievable amount of physical comedy, unique vocal cadence, and high-octane energy to the screen.

The live studio audience reacted with explosive laughter. Kids across America instantly fell in love with his signature catchphrases:

    “Did I do that?”

    “Look what you did!”

“I’m wearing you down, baby! I’m wearing you down!”

Recognizing a goldmine, the producers immediately elevated White to a series regular. Within a year, Family Matters morphed from a grounded family ensemble into “The Steve Urkel Show” in all but name. Urkel merchandise flooded stores—from talking dolls and cereal boxes to lunchboxes and T-shirts. Steve Urkel was no longer just a sitcom character; he was a global phenomenon.

    Images

    3. The Genre Shift: Grounded Comedy Meets Sci-Fi Absurdity
As the seasons progressed through the mid-90s, the writers realized that the audience’s appetite for Urkel’s antics was insatiable. To keep the premise fresh over hundreds of episodes, Family Matters did something completely unprecedented for a grounded family sitcom: it fully embraced science fiction.

Steve Urkel was written as a child prodigy and mad scientist. His cluttered basement and school lab became the birthplace of wildly outlandish inventions that drove the plot of later seasons:

The Transformation Chamber: Urkel invented a machine that allowed him to alter his DNA, creating his smooth, suave, attractive alter-ego, Stefan Urquelle.

The Telepad: A teleportation device that whisked Steve and Carl off to Paris in the blink of an eye.

The Cloning Machine: Leading to episodes where Jaleel White played multiple versions of himself simultaneously.

Time Machines & Shrink Rays: Pushing the boundaries of traditional sitcom storytelling into cartoonish, sci-fi adventure.

While critics often poked fun at the show’s increasingly absurd plotlines, audiences couldn’t get enough. The dynamic between the exasperated, grounded father figure Carl Winslow and the chaotic, hyper-intelligent Urkel provided a comedic contrast that fueled the series for nearly a decade.

    4. The Heart Behind the Hijinks
It is easy to look back at Family Matters as merely a vehicle for physical gags and sci-fi tropes, but doing so ignores the secret ingredient that gave the show its 215-episode endurance: its tremendous heart.

At its core, Family Matters was built on warmth, forgiveness, and unconditional love. No matter how many times Steve accidentally destroyed Carl’s living room, drove a car through the front window, or ruined a holiday dinner, the episode almost always ended with a quiet, heartfelt moment on the living room sofa.

Carl Winslow, brilliantly portrayed by Reginald VelJohnson, served as the emotional anchor of the series. His journey from being completely exasperated by Urkel to genuinely accepting him as a son figure remains one of the most endearing character dynamics of 90s television. Furthermore, the show tackled serious social topics of the era, including racial profiling by police, gun violence in schools, inner-city poverty, and the importance of education.

    5. The Legacy of a 215-Episode Giant
By the time Family Matters wrapped its final episode in July 1998 (after moving from ABC to CBS for its ninth and final season), it had cemented its place in television history.

    Key Milestones & Legacy Facts:
215 Episodes: It stands as the third longest-running U.S. sitcom with a predominantly Black cast, behind only Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and The Jeffersons.

The TGIF Anchor: It served as the ratings backbone for ABC’s iconic Friday night “TGIF” block alongside Full House, Step by Step, and Boy Meets World.

Cultural Longevity: Jaleel White’s portrayal of Urkel broke television archetypes, proving that an awkward, intellectual character could become a mainstream pop-culture icon.

    Conclusion: A Run Worth Remembering
When we look back at the incredible 1989–1998 run of Family Matters, we are reminded of a bygone era of network television—a time when families gathered around the TV every Friday night, waiting to see what wild invention Steve Urkel would build next, or how Carl Winslow would handle the chaos.

With 9 seasons and 215 episodes, Family Matters was far more than just a nostalgic memory or a vehicle for a catchphrase. It was a cultural juggernaut that blended high-concept comedy with genuine warmth, earning its place among the most enduring sitcoms in American history.

    • Taylor played Drescher’s mom, Sylvia Fine, on The Nanny
    • Nicholle Tom, who played the oldest Sheffield kid on the sicom, portrays Taylor in the play

Fran Drescher is always showing love to The Nanny family.

The actress, 67, got together with costars from the beloved sitcom for a very special occasion. Sharing photos on Instagram, Drescher praised Dying Is No Excuse!, written by her sitcom mom Renée Taylor, who wrote the show about the life and love she shared with late husband  Joe Bologna.

Taylor is portrayed by Nicholle Tom, who fans of the show will also recognize. Tom played Maggie Sheffield, the oldest of the three Sheffield kids in The Nanny, making the night that much more meaningful for all three ladies.

“Last night at The Unicorn Theater in Stockbridge, MA, a magical night of theater happened,” Drescher captioned the post. “Renee Taylor wrote the play, Dying Is No Excuse! This triumph celebrates the creative and complex love filled marriage & relationship between Renee Taylor & Joe Bologna.”

Drescher celebrated Taylor, 92, for being “a magical genius who opens and closes the show.”

“The flashback scenes beginning when Renee was 30 and goes through all of their life together thru The Nanny and Joe’s battle with cancer,” Drescher explained of the show before praising Tom’s performance as Taylor.

Back in 2018, Drescher’s costume designer, Brenda Cooper — who worked with her for four seasons of The Nanny in addition to working with her former costars on the play — previously spoke to Hello Giggles about her decision to go with bold colors in patterns on the show.

“I didn’t get any direction, but I knew exactly what to do, and Fran just let me do it … It was very colorful and it was form-fitting,” Cooper told the outlet in 2018. “That was the inspiration to create this character.”

She continued, “I intentionally wanted to make a statement of style, wit, and humor, all combined. So I just started shopping for the show… I wanted color, I wanted it to be sexy. And there was lots of color available in 1993.”

The Emmy-winning costume designer added, “Fran gave me my wings and she trusted me. We were a match made in heaven. She just let me do my thing, and that’s what the result was.”

  • My little one was born with a congenital difference in their hand, but their sincere smile proves every single day that happiness knows no boundaries

The first time I held my little one in my arms, my whole world changed in an instant. I no longer thought about work, daily worries, or tomorrow. My entire world fit into those tiny hands, those innocent eyes, and that peaceful breathing. On that day, I felt like the happiest person in the world.👶

At the same time, however, my heart was filled with emotions because the doctors told me that my baby had been born with a congenital difference in one hand. ❤️

For the first few moments, I couldn’t say a word. I simply looked at my baby and thought about how absolutely perfect they were to me. Their tiny face was peaceful as they slept, and I couldn’t understand how anyone could focus only on that difference instead of seeing the incredible beauty that I saw. In that moment, I made a promise to myself that my child would never feel less than anyone else. They would grow up surrounded by love, confidence, and acceptance. 🌸

The first months were filled with new discoveries. My baby learned to hold toys, smile, and respond to my voice. The first time they smiled widely at me, every worry disappeared in an instant. That smile seemed to say, «Mom, everything is going to be okay.» That smile gave me the strength to continue our journey with confidence.

Every day, I became more convinced that children see life through completely different eyes. They do not compare themselves to others, nor do they think about physical differences. They simply want to play, learn, discover, and be loved. My little one was exactly like that. They found joy in the smallest things—a colorful ball, a ray of sunshine coming through the window, or their favorite soft toy. 🧸✨

Whenever we went for walks in the park, I often watched other children approach my little one with smiles. They didn’t notice what adults sometimes tried to notice. They simply wanted to play together, run around, or roll a ball. At those moments, I realized that children are born without prejudice. They value sincerity, not differences.

Of course, there were times when people asked questions. Many were genuinely curious, and I always calmly explained that my little one had been born with a congenital difference in their hand. But I always added the most important sentence: «That does not define who they are.» They are curious, cheerful, determined, kind, and incredibly loving. Their personality tells their story—not their physical difference. 💖

As time passed, I realized that it was my child who was teaching me life’s greatest lessons. Whenever something didn’t work the first time, they simply tried again. There was no complaining, no giving up.

They smiled, picked up their toy again, and continued playing. That determination made me rethink the way I faced difficulties in my own life.

One day, I happened to look over and saw my little one sitting on the floor, hugging their favorite stuffed toy. Their eyes were sparkling with happiness, and there was such peace on their face that I couldn’t hold back my tears.

They were not tears of sadness. They were tears of gratitude. I was grateful to life for giving me this child because they had changed me in the best possible way. 🌈

My little one taught me to stop worrying about things that are truly secondary. They taught me to appreciate every small victory, every tiny step forward, and to find a reason to smile every single day.

When they laugh, our entire home fills with joy. When they hug me, I realize that embrace is the greatest treasure in the world.

Today, when I look at my child, I no longer think about the challenges that may come in the future. Instead, I think about their dreams, their interests, and the path they will one day follow. I truly believe they will achieve their goals because they already possess the greatest strength of all—the belief in their own abilities. 🌟

I want my child to always remember one thing: every person in this world is unique. What makes us truly beautiful is our kindness, our honesty, our determination, and the way we treat others. Real value is never measured by appearance.

Every evening, when my little one falls asleep in my arms, I thank life once again. I look at that peaceful little face and realize that happiness is not about being perfect. Happiness is about loving, being loved, and welcoming each new day with a smile. ❤️

My little one was born with a congenital difference in their hand, but their sincere smile proves every single day that true strength comes from the heart, and happiness knows no boundaries. As long as that beautiful smile continues to shine, I know that the most wonderful chapters of our story are still ahead of us. 👶💕
